Construct a Rotation Schedule for Partial Participators
Which aspects of your rotation would be impacted by a trainee decision for partial participation? Would you need to create alternate experiences, clinics, etc.?
Which of your program learning objectives or transferable clinical skills will be impacted by their decision to partially participate? How will the trainee gain these skills outside of participation in family planning training? What other activities or materials can you utilize to help them achieve these objectives?
Are there ways you can engage the partially participating trainee in determining how they will ensure their education and spend their time?
What is an optimal plan for coverage of patient care or education opportunities when partial participation is chosen? Who is responsible for arranging this?
If you work with a partner clinic, can you articulate skills trainees can gain by attending sessions at the partner clinic even if participation is limited?
Are there any elements of your plan for partial participation that could potentially inadvertently incentivize or reward opting out of certain patient care scenarios (e.g. getting to do major GYN surgeries instead)? If so, can you alter them?
